The Fruity Self Portraits of Cristina OteroI always fall in love with Cristina Otero's (*Senju-HiMe) portraits whenever I come across a new one while browsing photography on deviantART. Cristina is a photographer based in El Puerto de Santa María, Spain, whose self-portraits have become pretty well known in the deviantART community. Her photography has built her a following of over 8,800 people and her artwork has been viewed over 1.6 million times.

A Celebration of AgeGetting old is seen by so many as something to avoid, complain about, joke about and perhaps even ignore until it won't go away any longer. Age for many when they pass a certain milestone of years, becomes a curse or something to be ashamed of. Hair colours are constantly covered over in favour of looking young and ageless as much as possible.

Skin is constantly plastered with all manner of creams and lotions to try and prevent the rivers of life carving a niche into the flesh. Bodies are worked until they can work no longer to try and force them into retaining their youthful shape and feel but in reality we don't stop and recognise, not even for a moment - that age is beautiful.

We forget, and barely acknowledge for most of the time, that age is associated with increased diversity. You will find a more diverse people in a room of seventy year old people, than you will in a room of seventeen year old people. The wisdom, experience and attitude of

Celebrating Diversity #3Hello, everyone!
When we don't see enough of a particular art form, it is difficult for us to understand or appreciate it. This project aims to bring you features that you might not have seen otherwise from a variety of galleries around dA. For example, I tend to live and breathe photomanipulations and (to a lesser extent) digital art, and I really enjoyed taking a moment to browse the non-photomanipulation galleries for treasures. I found many, and I hope you will enjoy the features I have chosen.

Not So Traditional Tuesdays #2After a little debate with myself (I won! :w00t:), I've decide to change up the features that I generally put out every week. So, for a while at least, I plan on featuring Traditional and Non-Traditional work on alternating Tuesdays. This will keep it fresh for me and maybe open a few eyes to all the different kinds of artwork that is available while browsing the deviantArt galleries. The things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part, to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great Manga drawing, and literature can give you the inspiration to try something new or take your work to the next step. You may never try all art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find!

The Sci-Fi Paintings of Alex KimI came across Alex Kim (~FotoN-3) a while ago and was blown away by his work. He's built up an audience on deviantART, but I'm surprised that his works haven't gotten even more attention than they already have. I just love his style. So beautiful!







Celebrating Diversity #1Welcome to this new series of Art Features! Even tho most of you are aware of the many many galleries and categories here on dA, I think most of us move in a sort of "comfort zone" between Galleries, Channels or Groups that provide us with a constant flow of new art. And sometimes we forget all the other great artforms, styles and media that are out of our "comfort zone". And today I want to step out of that warm and cuddly place and feature some awesome works from places on dA I don't usually visit!

Traditional Tuesdays #41Hi, and welcome to the 41st edition of Traditional Tuesdays. This week, like all  of the other weeks, I'll be featuring fifteen works of art from the Traditional Gallery. about that first fanart... thats actually a theft. that is official artwork that was stolen and turned into a wallpaper. i have the original pictures here in the guidebook :P. just looked at that guys gallery and its all stolen and modified official art and screenshots.
