Improved deviantART Integration on TwitterWe're excited to announce that we just implemented enhancements to the way deviantART links display on Twitter, giving you and your artwork more prominence and exposure!
We're always looking for ways to give artists better exposure -- both on deviantART and across the web. Not only do these changes give artists a bigger presence across Twitter by allowing them to reach a bigger audience, but they also encourage proper attribution.
(Hylian Shirt by *blo0p)
Artwork will appear larger on Twitter.Titles and descriptions of artwork are now automatically included!
Links to Profiles, Groups, Favourites, Galleries, Collections, Journals, and Sta.sh items will now display inline! When profiles are shared, it pulls in your deviantID and bio.
Tweets including deviantART links are now eligible to show up in
New deviantART ThumbnailsIn the weekly Site Updates, we've been telling you all about the changes that have been launched to deviantART, getting your feedback, and reporting all the bugs that have been fixed.
This change is a little different, since it involves a feature that has been in place for a long time. We think it deserves an announcement of its own, ahead of time.
The current deviantART thumbnails (the smaller versions of deviations) have served the community well for years; however, there's always room for improvement.
Some of the problems with existing thumbnails are: they leave a lot of blank space around them, there isn't a lot of room for text for literature deviations, and the thumbnails don't present very tall/wide images well.
The New Thumbnails
Now, we've created a new style of thumbnail, which hopes to solve a lot of these problems.
We've made all thumbnails bigger! We're showing them in tidier row

Literary Compass - Vol. 7Welcome
If one is looking for Literature, you don't need to go far on deviantART. There is a large community of writers and a plethora of work to peruse. Featuring genres such as fantasy, mystery, horror, and romance, one would be hard-pressed to find an area not covered. However, due to the nature of the site, shorter works tend to get more focus. It's easier to quickly read a poem or a short story, and thus many of the feature articles on dA showcase those works. However, there are many novelists and serial writers among the mix, oftentimes fighting an uphill battle to have their works seen and appreciated.
With that in mind, I have started an article to spotlight some of those artists and their literary-worlds. The works covered in this feature will exclusively be long-form fiction such as novels, trilogies, etc., or fiction serials.
Editor's Note: Some people feel it is questionable when a writer who publishes an article series features their own work. Mir
Photography ResourcesLots of people have had troubleshooting queries over the past few months that we've addressed through various articles you might have seen over at communityrelations. This blog is a roundup of all those resources including a few others from around dA that you might find useful. Valentine's Contest - CLOSED A very nice turn-out with 18 entries. As there is some longer lit to read and judge, as well as some detailed commentary with the visual pieces submitted, judging may take a little while. We hope to announce the winners soon, but please be patient as there are so many lovely entries, it's gonna take a bit of time to decide the winners.
In celebration of Valentine's Day (which is today) we are hosting a Relativity contest! Note, this theme is a bit different than our past contests, so be sure to read everything.
The theme is Romantic Love
Just what that means depends on you. Perhaps it's a shipping of two characters. Perhaps it's unrequited love where one side gives and the other doesn't reciprocate. Perhaps it's a tainted love that ends with screams and gunshots.
Who's in love? That's up to you, and you have TWO options:
One of your original characters paired up with one of the Relativity OCs.
Spotlight Features - Volume 13A news series featuring art selected by me. There will be a wide range of themes and genres covered. In addition, there will be periodic interviews and artist spotlights.
If you like this article, please add it to your favorites to help spread the love for the art and artists within.
It is widely known that many famous artists, composer, and authors have had the frustration of having a work they felt was sub-par gain huge popularity while pieces they worked harder on and adore sat un-noticed. This is the same for everyday deviants. I recently ran a poll asking for deviants to share with me their thoughts on this and share their own art. Here are some of the answers--the first piece being the most faved and the second being the one they wished had more love. More will be featured in future articles. To see the original poll (which is still open), click here<
A Fool's IdeaWelcome once again to Film in Progress! This is a series of articles I am doing on works in progress by filmmakers and animators. Sometimes in our line of work we don't have a lot to show for a long time because lets be honest, production time for film or animation takes an awful long time so it's difficult to show people what you're working on. So what I hope to achieve in these series of articles is to give you a chance to talk about something you're working on, and if you have stills and other pieces of development work you can show it off here as well!
To take part in this project or for more information just send me a note I can talk to you (and your team if applicable) about it!
Today we have BlightProductions with his project, A Fool's Idea!
Let us begin by introducing you to the rest of the community first. Who are you? And are you a professional filmmaker?
April Theme - Fragile and March Winners! The Theme

Judging will commence soon after with winners announced at the beginning of next month with the new challenge! We're tightening up on submissions now and your work will be declined if it doesn't follow our submissions rules!

Life for the past 6 Years (Long Journal :/)Hi everyone! So...I haven't said too much or been very active for the past 6 years or so...I was active for my first full year on DA but then life kinda happened and I wasn't on very much. So I thought I would say everything that has happened and what is currently going on in my life because I would love feedback and opinions. Needless to say, I have missed you guys, I have missed you all a lot. *gets teary-eyed*
The last time I was very active on here I was studying Computer Science at Texas Women's University. I started studying weightloss as I was very unhappy with my life and I had been obese most of my life. I was severely OCD as well...if I didn't have classes I would never have left my home. I was scared of germs and contamination. My mom had to start accompanying me to places to open doors because I was too afraid to touch door knobs (yeah it was THAT bad :/). But as I began losing weight I started having more people approach and talk to me...then I decided to change s
Where's the Bears...? + SpiritSpirit Day
Minnie is wearing a purple bow today. You'd all be blind not to notice that purple banner on the top of your screen. It's Spirit Day. This is a day close to my heart. As a teen, I dropped out of high school due to bullying. Due to bullying, I ended up ill in the hospital from stress. I was beaten up and spit on. I sat at lunch alone for years. Why? Because I dressed differently? I didn't want to be in the cliques? Because I was friends with the other kids everyone picked on and refused to do the same? To this day I don't 100% know.
And the sad thing? I had to see my daughter go through the same things, years later--at the hands of both kids and teachers. Thankfully I had options to remove her from that.
I believe that NO ONE should be bullied. Certainly not for sexual orientation, the way they dress, their beliefs, whatever. Let's stand up and stop this. 20 years ago, I certainly wish someone was there to st

Self-Injury Awareness 2013 Fears vs DreamsThe Facts
March 1st is a day that calls attention to a sensitive subject that takes on many meanings and forms for people. Self-injury, or self-harm, is the act of deliberately harming oneself physically, usually as a mechanism for expressing distress or coping in difficult situations. Self-injury is commonly associated with cutting, but can also refer to burning, scratching, bruising, bleaching, overdosing, some forms of hair pulling and picking, and breaking bones. Binging and purging may also be considered self-injuring behavior.
The reasons behind self-injury and the people who self-injure vary greatly, but one thing to keep in mind is that it does not matter what culture, ethnicity, gender, or age you are: there are people who have injured themselves from all walks of life. Triggering events like bullying, trauma, abuse, school, work pressures, bereavement and difficult relationships can all contribute to the distress one feels that leads them to self-injure, but

Camera Science With Corey - #1 LightOur cameras are our eyes to the world, a way for us to capture light and motion in an instant, and share it with each other. We love our cameras, they allow us to capture some very beautiful, emotional, and captivating things. But how many of us truly know how they work? If I was to ask you how light gets focused onto the sensor, would you just say "The lens does that.", or could you tell me it has to do with the refraction of the light through multiple lenses, focusing the light onto the sensor which is on the optical axis of the system.
If none of that made sense, than you are in the right place. Through these articles, I won't just be teaching you what things like Aperture, Depth of Field, and Focal Length are, but why they are what they are, and how all those systems work and interact, to allow us to capture the moments we see, with something other than our eyes and memory.
While these will be science and theory heavy, they are not going to read like a Wikipedia article
