Premium Members can now use Google Analytics to get meaningful insight about the traffic to their deviantART Profile! Using our new Google Analytics integration, you can access comprehensive statistics about your audience, traffic, and art.

Learn more about how you can benefit from Google Analytics on you deviantART Profile.

Set Up Analytics For Your Profile

To set up Google Analytics for your profile, you will need to allow Google Analytics to start tracking your profile:
  1. Visit the new "Google Analytics" near the bottom of your General Settings
  2. Click "Where do I find my Analytics ID?" and follow the instructions on how to set up your Google Analytics account.
  3. Follow the instructions on how to find your Google Analytics Tracking ID.
  4. Insert your Tracking ID and click save. Google Analytics is now tracking your profile!
  5. Visit Google Analytics. (Note that Google Analytics' default date range is set to yesterday. You'll have to adjust the date range if you want to see data from today.)

Confirm That It's Tracking

To confirm that it's properly recording your traffic, click the "Reporting" tab on the top of Google Analytics and then either 1) select "Real-Time" in the left navigation of Google Analytics to see live traffic stats 2) on the top right of any report, change the date range to include today.

Important Things To Note

  • Past traffic data will not be available; you will only be able to see traffic recorded after you have enabled the feature.
  • A Premium Membership is required to use Google Analytics. Tracking will only be enabled for the length of your Premium Membership.
  • Not all Google Analytics features will be available with our integration, including: Demographics, Interests, Search Engine Optimization, and In-Page Analytics.

Note that Google Analytics is a powerful tool that can take some time to learn if you have never used the platform. If you have specific questions about how Analytics works, you can use Google's Help Center, which is accessible from the "help" menu while signed in.

Hello~ Will it be available with the dA Portfolio system soon?
Or is it available already and I missed it?

At the moment, we don't have any plans on implementing it into Portfolio.

Are there plans to integrate any of the other features in the future? Demographics and Interests are actually the stats that was most interested to see.

Finally I see some stats on my Google Analytics page. However it doesn't tally with DAs own statistics at all. So which one is right or are they both meaningless ???

Yes, a Premium Membership must be enabled to track the data.

alright, this could be a handy feature in the future. It'd be nice if there was a convenient link to the google analytics page in stats or something. For me it'd mostly be a reminder that "Oh, I have my analytics page I can check!". Else I'll just reluctantly add a bookmark to my bar.

I'd really like to know more about my traffic flow, but unfortunately Universal Analytics is still in the beta phase right now and doesn't support demographics and interests. Hopefully Google will implement such a feature soon, but from the blogs that I've been reading, the feature has yet to be added. They said in October 2013 of last year that it will be officially implemented soon . :(

I know Classic Analytics can collect this sort of information for it's users.

I thought it was going to be a widget on my profile that only I could see. Am I just glancing over it? Or is it not a widget, and it's only a thing I can see by going to Google Analytics?

:icondanlev:
danlev Featured By Owner Mar 24, 2014  Hobbyist Photographer
Nope. It's not a widget. You need to visit google.com/analytics to view your reports.

It's not working for me.  I tried turning off tracking, regenerating a different tracking number, pasting it, and then re-checking the box (as suggested by Aleayo) but still no joy.

Looks like it's set up properly on your account. Are you not seeing any data on Google Analytics?

I now see what was going on, though I don't claim to understand it.

If I hit my deviant art page from my mobile phone then yes, I see that hit through Google Analytics.  If I hit my page from Firefox then I see that hit.  If I hit my page from Google Chrome on a different computer than I see the hit.  IF, however, I hit the same page from my desktop ( the one where I usually access deviant art and from which I set up the Google Analytics account) then I do not see any evidence of that page should.  Even if I force a refresh repeatedly (using control F5) it seems that those hits do not register.  Maybe Google Analytics has some sort of filter that removes hits from the originating machine/browser combination? That seems strange, but I don't know how else to explain what I'm seeing.

Bottom line, however, is that everything is working now.  Thanks very much for the quick response, and for being part of a cool and interesting website.

Best wishes,
Ben (benralexander)

Can you track a portfolio in DA and if yes,  how do you track a portfolio in DA. I would like to see how many visits I have on my portfolio and from where they come from.
I placed the url of my portfolio into the Google Analytics ID setup page, generated the code, then put the new code into the DA settings code box. Is that enough to monitor my portfolio?

I've added the tracking ID but google analytics shows 0 visitors the last three days (or ever, for that matter). Is there anything more that needs to be done more than adding the ID on dA?

OK SO. You have to go to your GENERAL SETTINGS and then click GENERAL and then scroll down to GOOGLE ANALYTICS. You might want to add that extra step... Right now it just makes it sound like it's on the left side with everything else.

Yeah, so I thought this was working for me for a while, but then google analytics won't let me access the site with the tracking information. :/
Without an easy way to access this information from dA directly, I don't think I'll be using this feature.

Btw, I just noticed that my own page (ONLY my own page) just doesn't stop loading, because it seems to busy "transferring data from google-analytics.com"
I mean, everything else still gets loaded and stuff, but this still is really annoying.
Make it go away, dA! :salute:

I did all the things listed in that section, but I still don't get any results, just a flatline of zero visitors.

I will try to fix it tomorrow and see if I can find the error. But thank you for the help :)
