3D Printing with Bees
How awesome is this? Dewar's (the whiskey brand) created an ad campaign that used bees as a "3D printer" ...or as they called it "3-B printing." They created shells of the sculpture they wanted to create and let 80,000 bees loose inside of it. Over time, the bees created beautiful honeycomb sculptures.
Nice work Dewar's and the agencies behind the campaign, Sid Lee New York and The Ebeling Group!

Artist Draws Comics of Friends' Facebook Statuses~graynate is a US-based artist who illustrates his friend's Facebook statuses. Nate submitted one of his comics to Reddit last night, and it skyrocketed to the front page with over 5,000 upvotes.
An hour after submitting his comic to Reddit, a user requested that he confirm his identity as being the original artist, and challenged him:
"I want to believe OP. But [your account is] 0 days old. So taking today's popular AMA into consideration...draw Adam Savage laughing at a completely shaven Jamie Hyneman."
Nate accepted the drawing challenge, and posted his illustration to Reddit and

Fan Fiction On deviantARTGalleries Month
What Is Fan Fiction?
Everyday, we are inspired by movies, television, novels, and other forms of media. They engage our minds with a variety of stories and characters, their plights and triumphs, their everyday minutiae. Fan fiction authors are so enamored with these other worlds and their inhabitants that they must partake in the stories which have brought them so much enjoyment. They expand on the current universe, explain gaps in the narrative and delve into characters' motivations.
A good fan fiction (or fanfic) is more than simple borrowing another writer's characters and universe. The fan fiction author must immerse his or her readers in the story, make them believe it is a natural extension of the source material. Characters have their own mannerisms and quirks; each universe has its own history and rules that need to be followed. The fan fiction author must master the nuances of those characters and the world they inhabit (unless purposely writi
Did You Know - Manage DeviationsManage Deviations
Especially when you have quite a lot of artworks in your gallery, it can become tricky to manage your deviations and to sort through them.
That's why we have the manage deviations page. You can either access it via the direct link or by choosing "Manage Deviations" from the Submit Menu.
On that page you have listed your deviations & journals. The overview will give you the name, the category it was submitted to, the publishing date and it also lists your sharing options and if critiques and comments are enabled or disabled.
When hovering over your deviation title, you will also get a little preview of that deviation. This helps to know what deviation you are going to edit, when you can't remember what title goes with what deviation.

How to Write Helpful Critiques/ FeedbackNow that I have been looking at several literature pieces a week, there aren't a whole lot of comments that provide the writers with feedback. So here's a guide that I thought might be useful for some people on how to provide helpful feedback and critiques.
Before I begin, I would like to say that I have been a part of a wonderful writing group for the past four years. The writing club is where I first learned how to do a critique. I have also been taught some critique techniques during my college studies. In addition to the writing club and college classes, I have been doing my best to leave helpful feedback and critiques here on deviantART. This guide is based entirely off of my personal experience. As I think of more tips, I will be editing this guide.
Make sure to respond to any questions they have asked in the artist's descriptions.
Be sure to find out how experienced they are a
50 facts meme and artbook featureLet's start that DA's helpdesk is actually... not so helpful at all.
My ticket more or less came back with a generic response. The so called bug is apparently already known for a for a full month and with that message my helpdesk ticket was closed :')
As for now I've got some good stuff coming. Both articles (journals) and art. But it seems to make little sense to post them if half of the watchers doesn't even get notified (it basically feels like they fell off the face of earth), and the other half gets the notification with a 3 hour to 2 days delay. Not to mention that I stare at a blank page half of the time, because of the bugs. So I guess I have to postpone posting the really cool and awesome stuff until DA gets their shit back on track. Sorry guys T__T
For now, a few small updates
First of all, I want to
Another New Rainbow Rocks Preview ClipHasbro released the third "Sneak Peek" at the Rainbow Rocks movie.
Giving up.There's a saying out there- that you'll always regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did. There's another one: It's better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
Both are true. Lately, i've fallen in love with this show called "Battle for dream island" Seriously. Watch it. It's a short series on Youtube that's a lot like Total drama island- except, replace all the characters with talking objects and you've got the idea. I literally went on a archive binge yesterday, it is so amazing. Anywhay, I came across this video while I was snooping around Jacknjellify's youtube:
My mouth literally dropped. This guy, this guy right here- he did it. He accomplished what I always wanted to do (make a cartoon series), and even became famous!!
And you know why?
He didn't give up.
Back around the same time this came out, I also had a little comic book series. Okay, not little- I'd finished writing and drawing 26 episodes

Is dA and its Group system slowing dying out?Hello everyone!
Before you read, please keep in mind that my intentions are not to blame, insult, criticize, or say anything harmful about anyone! The intentions of this feature if anything, is to motivate us all in improving the group system and dA as a whole! ALSO this is focused more largely on photography, digital art, and a few other mediums, but I don't claim to speak for the cases of other mediums and types of groups that I am not familiar with.
EDIT: To make things clear, I don't believe dA or Groups will ever be "dead" in the sense of them not existing anymore, or members in both factions not existing either, I'm using "Death" more metaphorically perhaps, in saying that the way the group system is intended to be working, has been failing, and needs improving in order to not fail its purpose, and that dA needs to do something to strengthen the community sense and interactions between members both in groups and in the dA com
Bad Teachers and Egotistical Jerkwads Good lord, another journal. Well, sometimes I go for a month without writing one, so suffer! :iconinuevillaughplz:
I've been asked about this recently, so thought I'd write about it just in case someone else might relate or find it encouraging.
A lot of people are surprised to hear that I have only been painting since 2011. Well, it's true . I had coloured a few line arts here and there before that, but I never really tried at painting. I was dabbling and just slapping on colour, not bothering to figure out the programs or anything. Because I truly didn't believe I could do it.
Backing up a bit, I'm someone who was a traditional artist. I have been drawing with pencils and paper since I was just a little tyke. Naturally, I wanted everything to do with art in school. :iconhandsomeonionplz:
And that's where this little tale turns dark and mildly depressing :icon0inuscreamplz:
I had this teacher, in my very first

And then I returned...It's been a while since I've been actively online.
But even though temporary, it did changed my perspective on some matters.
It's weird how much the internet can become an influence, and how this process goes so unnoticed. At a certain point the countless voices of people around you blend into a continuous buzz. A buzz that you soon get so familiar with that you forget there was a life before it. I guess that's what social media does in general; creating a buzz. An artificial need for you to continuously be online and check your messages, because you might just miss something otherwise. Life, in general, has become so infused with the internet that it sometimes scares me. I'm part of the internet industry. Hell, I even made it my job! But even I sometimes find myself wondering where the time has gone that I could work on an artwork for hours straight, without feeling that creeping itch to check my messages.
The last few weeks before the break, I've repeatedly felt bad about
