In our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the
last Site Update.
What's New
More Updates to the New Thumbnails Preview
Several weeks ago, we released a sneak peek of deviantART's new thumbnails. We've been making changes based on community responses, and today we've implemented a few more. In this updated version, the font, spacing, and colors of the text under the thumbs have been adjusted. Also, several members had concerns about the "frames" that were put around thumbs that were either extra tall, extra wide, or small images (such as emoticons and avatars). We've adjusted the visual display of these frames to make them less distracting.
Update: Fair Exposure and Popular Browse
Since the release of Fair Exposure, deviantART's algorithm for Popular browse results, we've noticed a concerted, dedicated effort made by deviants, or groups of deviants, to specifically beat (or "game") the system. This has, rightfully so, resulted in complaints from deviants who submit to deviantART in a fair and honest manner. In an article published earlier this week, we've addressed some of the community concerns, clarified our intentions of Fair Exposure, and explained how we are enhancing it.

Collaboration
When writing Journals for a Group, how many of you use the collaboration tools available so that multiple admins can work together on a Journal? What collaborative features are missing? What collaborative features would you like to see added to Sta.sh?

I'm often flooded with deviantWATCH message alerts from Deviants and Groups I WATCH.
While there is no problem with this, it can and does become annoying when I get alerts for the SAME Deviations over and over again.
If you are watching an artist, chances are you'll get a deviantWATCH message alert when they submit a new Deviation, which is totally cool. However, if they submit their Deviation to a group you are a member of or are simply watching, then you'll get yet another message for the SAME deviation.
This will happen each time a Deviant submits the same deviation(s) to any and every group you belong to or WATCH. This floods your deviantWATCH messages with repeat and monotonous alerts.
Sometimes I receive alerts from 5 different groups because the same artist submitted the same Deviation(s) to them all. Sometimes it is one Deviation, sometimes its a page (24) or more worth. The fact of the matter is that because we are alerted to the same deviation multiple time, and it does accumulate and add onto the number of deviantWATCH messages it is an inconvenience to use and it slows us down in the process of checking our deviantWATCH messages.
With that said, we should be able to remove all instances of a Deviation from our deviantWATCH messages in one go, as well as being given the option to ignore future alerts generated by the Deviation.
When I took the screen for this mock up, I really did have 945 deviantWATCH messages and many of them were repeat alerts for the same Deviation(s.)
If you belong to multiple Pokémon/Fakemon Group and someone submits a Emo Pikachu Deviation entitled Cutachu, chances are you'll likely get alert upon alert for that same Emo Pikachu over and over as the artist submits or is asked to feature their art in the groups you belong to. I don't know about you, but I only need to see a weepy, heavy mascara wearing Pikachu with bloody wrist once in my life. Currently I belong to 30 groups that are devoted to Pokémon/Fakemon or that receives a heavy traffic of Pokémon/Fakemon art submissions and they are very popular lively groups too. What is submitted to one usually gets submitted to another all in a matter of time.
I'm not asking much of DA, but please give us some options to weed out and go through our messages quicker.
I also have a couple of little suggestions.
1. I believe this is a very common suggestion, but I'll mention it anyway. I'd like to see an option to disable favs like we can with comments on our deviations. Everyone, well most people anyway, have things like works in progress and old work in their galleries/scraps they don't want people adding to their favs, or at least give us the option to choose weather or not we want to receive fav notifications in our inboxes.
2. The option to delete comments from our pages/deviations instead of just hiding them.
3. The ability to transfer your subscription to another account if you no longer want it or are moving to a new account, so that it doesn't get wasted .
4. The ability to lock our own forum threads when we no longer want/need them and also block users from forum threads. I don't think blocking unwelcome users from your account stops them from also commenting on your forum posts.
5. Admins of groups around DA don't get notifications of comments left on group pages or journals in their main inbox. Please change this so that we do because we have to manually go to the group pages/journals and check.
Damn... there was more I wanted to put here, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.
Here's a concept I made with some other changes : [link]
I also replaced the "All" button with something like win explorer.
Anyway, could u include this in the feedback section of the next update ?
