In this week's Site Update, we do not have any public-facing changes. DeviantART staff just returned from the staff retreat as mentioned in last week's Site Update. This week, we are going through the hackathon projects that the Devious Technology team worked on, prioritizing them, doing further research, and then deciding how they can be used in the future.

Next week, we will back on our regular schedule and should have more updates for you!

Your Feedback

Thanks for the feedback on last week's Site Update!
  • We appreciate the comments we recieved about last week's Devious Technology hackathon projects! However, we'd like to reiterate that these projects were explorations, not formal undertakings. If we decide to implement any of these ideas on site, they will go through further discussion and consideration before being fully built.
  • Feedback regarding an updated statistics system was positive.
  • Users would like a Sta.sh mobile interface. From ~BornLegandary
  • Katy-L-Wood put together a visual suggestion that would track and display works in progress without having to post a new deviation each time an update is made.

What do you think of Favourites and Collections? Currently, you can either Favourite artwork or add it to a Collection within your Favourites. Do you simply use the Favourites feature or do you prefer to organize your favourite artwork into Collections? Do you use the drag and drop function to collect and share deviations? Once you've favourited something, do you find it easy to organize and keep track of? Are there any improvements you'd like to see made to the Favourites and Collections feature?

I usually add my favorites to a collection because it makes it so much easier for me to look back at them when they are nicely grouped together. I really like the drag and drop option. But the favorites button is also nice. I just think the drag and drop is one less step to clicking favorites then clicking the category you want it in. Now something nice would be since I also have dragged things accidentally into my fav's would be maybe a "Are you sure" or to eliminate the extra step maybe you have to right click drag to drop and drag into fav's or double click and drag? Pretty much just a certain sequence specific to drop and drag so there's no accidental drags into fav's. I do find it pretty easy to organize and keep track of the favs.
