In our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the last Site Update.

Change Log

  • Google Analytics for Premium Members should no longer report URLs belonging to other artists. Fixed by micahgoulart
  • In Porftolio descriptions, text that contained quotes and apostrophes would not display correctly. Fixed lepidosteus
  • Navigation buttons were not always shown on documents when that item's owner viewed them via direct link. Fixed drommk
  • The "Click here to browse comments in flat view" link displayed on areas with a large amount of comments did not work on the deviations page. Fixed by duraseb
  • Clicking the "Next" and "Previous" buttons in a stack would only work for the first click. Fixed by elhsmart

deviantART muro
  • All brushes have been given a slight performance boost. Done bymudimba
  • Text put into annotations is now cached. Suggested by bodhidewey, changed by mudimba
  • The Undo button now be used up to 10 times. Changed by mudimba Writer
  • When editing Journals submitted to more than one Group from a Group Journal page, updating would silently fail to work. A proper error message has been added to explain the cause. Fixed by inazar
  • It was not possible to update the text of a literature deviation by uploading a new file. Fixed by Alisey
  • When editing the description of a stack within a stack in, the Add Media tool would not open. Fixed by inazar

Your Feedback

Thank you for the feedback on last week's Site Update! Here's some of what you had to say:
  • Feedback regarding the release of additional CSS options for Journal Skins was positive.
  • In response to the Discuss topic, some deviants mentioned trying out Way Back browsing a few times, while others said they had never tried using Way Back. For those who said they had used Way Back, they mentioned using it to find very specific deviations.

Google Analytics

For Premium Members that have installed Google Analytics, which reports or stats do you use most? Are there any reports that you've found especially interesting that might have changed how you use deviantART or how you market yourself?

Your comments may be featured in an upcoming article!

For the past several days, there have been several server issues where often the server doesn't even load, or at times it takes an exceedingly long time to do so. Any thoughts on why that is? Thanks.

I have a suggestion.
On the "Friends" tab in the upper-right, there will obviously be the green (online) and red (offline) bullets, but maybe you should have a yellow bullet for online, idling.

Would it be possible to give us an update on the "Public Deviation Keywords" that were originally "coming soon" in this update from August of last year?…

Hi! This is a question to whoever will be so kind to answer: get into "Manage Deviations" from the "Submit" menu on the top bar of the site. How are your deviations ordered into the list?? Are they listed in a chronological order or just random? I'm pretty sure they were listed according to the submission date, but I think I've been seeing them in a totally random order since the second half of last year.
I think it is important to see the list ordered by submission date, it is helpful if you want to find one or more particular deviation and, well, manage them!

Hi there, I have some feedback not directly related to these topics.

Something I would really really like to have is an option to directly customize your gallery page.

I haven't used custom CSS on my profile yet but I'm planning to, and it's just bugging me so much that you can't directly edit your gallery, but have to use folders instead. So I either have to leave my main gallery page completely empty, or have my images in the main gallery as well but not styled.

Is there a reason this is not possible or has it just not been added yet?

If it's possible please add this, I'm sure many many deviants would be happy about it!

Google is a festering parasite.
It makes Youtube into a capitalism website.

I'm using Opera browser for years. My current version is 12.17. It is Presto based Opera ( unlike versions 15+ ), released on 23rd of April this year( five days ago ). I don't want to switch to WebKit version since this one meets my needs better, and after this new update there is really no need.
Even before version 15 came out, I was always getting messages to update my browser or change it, but as I can see devian art works perfectly nice on presto engine, and beside annoying message everything else is great. Can you please remove it from the page for Presto Opera users, because it appears on every single page and it blocks top menu, or at least display it only on the first page.
