    • The ability to have private Collections. From =DaemonicFae

    • In deviantART muro, add the ability to change the size of the Canvas without having to create a new Canvas. From ^krissi001
    • If you start with a small canvas in deviantART muro, it zooms in. Shouldn't it start at 100%? From ^krissi001
    • An icon that shows if a member is new. "It would show that a new user might need help to navigate the site and all of its features. More experienced deviants could spot them easier and help them." From ~JosephAngelo

We'd like your feedback on some proposed changes to a few categories on deviantART. Please leave feedback on the following Journals: Stock and Resources gallery changes and Community Project gallery changes
    Last Week's Discussion

There were mixed reactions to changing the username format from username.deviantart.com deviantart.com/username. Some people had opinions about the aesthetics of either. Some members said the current format being more "personal" and some said that felt like they "had their own site." Others argued that it was worth switching to slightly speed up browsing and make it easier to implement HTTPS Everywhere. Don't forget: your "old" address will work forever -- anyone visiting "username.deviantart.com" would automatically be moved to "deviantart.com/username" without them even noticing.

Username changes were a very hot topic and were strongly favored. Some members had concerns about username changes being confusing and made suggestions about how they think the process should work. We are continuing conversations about this internally.

I have an idea. What about, in the Gifts menu, you could have an option to give art as a gift? That way they would get a message telling them someone's drawn them a gift, and there could be somewhere it got put on their profile... I don't know, a gifts tab or something.

    - Make it possible to opt out of seeing contest notices. Most people I know never enter contests at all and probably just find those notices annoying.
    - Change it so the "Random Deviation" button only takes us to deviations (no journals). Journals aren't art.
    - Allow premium members to turn ads back on if they like. Some people like ads.
    - Give the option to downgrade to the old deviantID. I, for one, prefer it, and I imagine there are others who do too.
    - Make it possible to invite to Founder. What if you're the founder of the group, but want to leave it?

Oh god, please don't establish a feature that would point out new users. Yeah, we'd hope people would want to help out the new guy, but people can be dicks. I can see many newbies getting harassed due to their "marked" status. Plus, what about people who deactivate their accounts and come back later with a new account? That'd be annoying as hell, what with all those people assuming you're new because dA has marked you as such.

I know this is wayyyy late, and probably won't be seen, but I'd like to post this anyways :3

One thing that has been bugging me is the 1-year search implementation. First, I cannot emphasize enough that I am all for it, except for things like tutorials. Whenever I am trying to find a specific tutorial that I know I've seen before, I come up against that road block. Also, as someone who makes tutorials, it's really rather annoying to have people ask "how do I make -insert something here- I tried searching but no one cares to write a tutorial about it!" and only to point them to one's I've done on the topic already.

I know this is a pain, but I'm wondering if its at all possible for conditional limitations, leaving the tutorials section open (maybe resources like stock, too?) for all past submissions to show up?

Here are some more suggestions that the suggestion forum won't allow. (I don't understand why - isn't demand all there is to it?)
    - Allow people to search through their favourites, and those of other people
    - Allow the option to downgrade to the old deviantID
    - Make it possible to see poll results without voting (What if you can't vote because the poll doesn't have your option?)
    - Ban tag journals and chain comments
    - Allow premium members the option to turn ads back on (Some people happen to like ads.)
    - The option to disable the "Give" button (We shouldn't be forced to take gifts. We deserve the option to say no.)
    - Ban anyone who blocks someone without a good reason (We need rules around this.)
    - Ban people who give favourites collections bad names (such as "Crappy art"). That way, favourites will always be welcome.

What about being able to attach images or text documents in notes? Say 'I' had a picture saved on my computer that a 'friend' of mine wanted to see, but 'I' didn't have the link to the place 'I'd' saved it from any more, and 'I' didn't have my 'friend's' email because they aren't the type to give it out on the internet. And say 'we' had the ability to attach the file as if 'we' were using Gmail or Yahoo, or whatever other email programs are out there to use. Then 'my friend' could see it without the hassle of 'me' searching and searching to find 'them' the link.

I'd like to point out an issue with Sta.sh. Its keyboard shortcuts are troubling, as they make it impossible to type some of the national letters. Namely, I noticed that with polish ż and ę, alt+z and alt+e respectively, but I'm sure the issue applies to other letters in other languages as well. Ability to personalize shortcuts, or maybe just an option to turn them off, anything to make it possible to type those letters without the inconvenience of copy'n'pasting them from other writing programs would be great, especially since alt+z deletes the entire text in given line. Cheers from Poland :peace:.

Okay well I might make this a rant (i'ma hope not/suppose to do work/shot/dies)
I think its messed that we can't place things of our profile in different areas, I would like my 'shout-box' on top of my journal, my comments on the left side (by left-via seeing computer screen). Its kinda annoying when it says: 'customize the way you want and find different styles' well i really can't customize other then adding and moving things around (and in the Personal/Art zone you are limited to what you can put there and move things from it) I mean its cool but there should be some way to 're-categorize' into separate things. like how the Super groups get to change the group's profile to like 4 different 'areas' i dunno but its a bit unfair if you think about it hard.
I would also like a option to add a preview or to take it off, I really don't know what to use for previews because even if i do save a 'screen capture' or have a part of it for the preview, i can save it as many things but it will not accept. and many of my items say that their not able to go into a certain category even though its the right one but different file save, if i save some thing as a '.bmp' and want to put it in a nice area it will say:
"Sorry this file can not be in the category only; ZIP, PNG, TXT, (ect of examples)" and then i have to edit the file all over and then save it as some thing different to put it there.
Yes this is filled with misspells and weird grammar errors but  long day and my arms hurt.
    Sorry for that rant.

.pmm is a file for MMD (otherwise known as MikuMikuDance, VPVP) its where people can 'make' models do things with items kinda like you can control a vocaloid.butsince i'm limited to where 'items' go, i cannot upload it and now i have to make it in a flash, do all the motions AGAIN. and save it as flash and more likely computer will crash before it tries to save. and reason why i cannot upload it is because 'UNKOWN File Type' -.-"
but an how a .pmm is just a save name as .bmp .png. .jpg .sai just for a program its self.

I actually only understood the part that you have to redo it to be able to convert it to flash ^^ the rest is something I don't have any idea of and I guess they won't make the file type known since I guess only very few people use it ^^

It would be great if under each image, the Statistics drop-down Favorites list was in date order, with the most recent at the top. Many years ago when I joined, it was like that and now the dates are all jumbled up ~ surely this would be easy to fix and helpful in seeing who last faved the image. :D Coco

I love the changing usernames idea. As for the URLs, I don't mind as long as the links don't break.

Anyway, what I think would be awesome is if you had the option to make your profile/frontpage private.
AKA hiding all activity from people looking without actually having to deactivate, giving up your published works and contacts just for some privacy.

I think it'd be useful for a lot of people who want to withdraw from dA without actually wanting to have to lose access to their works. Or other applications, like if someone wants to make changes to their profile but doesn't want anyone seeing until a certain time point. Dunno, just a thought

Username changes should be limited to prevent abuse, such as only being allowed once or twice every several years. Also, previous usernames should be locked from future use in order to prevent mistaken identity and confusion. Only the original user who took that name should be allowed to reuse it, given that they follow the same limitations that come with any username change. A list of previous usernames should also appear on a person's page if they chose to make such a change. URLs using old usernames should be redirected to the users' new URLs to prevent confusion.

Finally, the URL format should remain the same.. if it isn't broken, why fix it? :)

I like the idea of changing usernames, perhaps for a certain number of DA points?

But I like the URLs how they are, having username.deviantart.com makes it feel very personal, and it's useful when people are using DA as a portfolio or sorts.

I would most definitely like to change my username. However I understand how it could be confusing if people change their usernames all the time.
It would be nice if when you signed up and made up your username if there was a warning to let you know that you couldn't change it after you created it.
As to changing it later, perhaps the person would have to submit a request to change, and those with good reasons would be allowed.
Or, if someone you're following changes their username, a message would be sent out, notifying you of their name change.

I would like to suggest a button on a Deviants front page that is a report gallery/user button. I find too many people that have their whole gallery either against copyright or down right stolen artworks.

I feel that the single button will eliminate the spam you guys get from people having to submit each artwork individually for copyright/thievery, as well as cut down the time it takes for us to report them.

I just found someones gallery where everyone of their pictures (72 of them) were copyrighted. I don't have time to submit 72 copyright reports!

I really hope this makes it in or at least get looked at. I want to keep DA free of Art thieves and Photobucketers. Thanks!
