Over the past few months, we've been diligently working on cleaning up the category tree of old and unused categories.  While most of this will go unnoticed by the community, what you will notice is the change from "Miscellaneous" galleries to "Other".  The reason for this change is simple.  The concept of Miscellaneous leads one to believe that it's a junk drawer category for everything under the sun when the intention was to be an "Other" category for deviations that don't fit well in other sub-categories of the tree.  We're also working on u

I read a very interesting article this week debating Photography Vs Literature and which one of the two tells us more. Of course there is always the element that a picture could be accompanied by words but neither aspect is enough to tell a whole story. But as the article says, Photography has become a universal constant in the world today and is accessible to nearly everybody. Yet many still believe that only pure narration can truly tell a story. What are your thoughts? As Photographers we can choose to limit what we tell or show with a photograph, we can even mislead. Can we convey more with words? Or more with an image? You could describe a person with words but never truly give an accurate picture of who they are visually without a photograph...

The sky is so often underestimated in terms of Photography that I felt compelled to give it a bit of love and talk about it in this weeks article. I've been following UK Storm Chasers on facebook who have been documenting the arrival of the 'demon child of Nadine' as it has been deemed. Hurricane Nadine is still out there in the Atlantic Ocean spinning around and preparing to send the UK another demon child (which is really just a tropical storm to us) and with it comes a plethora of opportunities to snap some stunning skies and horizons. But do we appreciate the sky enough? I don't think we do. When was the last time you stopped shooting at eye level and looked up? As the year crawls into the final quarter - lots of challenges and daily photo tasks and so on begin to conclude. I have personally been challenging myself with the 365 Photography challenge - a photo a day for a whole year. It has been tricky to say the least, especially as I set myself a high standard of capturing more than one Photo a day - but also rewarding. Setting yourself a challenge, whether it's following the 52 week photography challenges that are out there, or doing a themed challenge such as 365 breakfasts - is a great way of expanding on your portfolio. Whilst it sometimes means that you struggle to find anything interesting to photograph or share, on the days that you do, you're one step closer to building another aspect of your portfolio.

Weather Photography has always fascinated me - the weather in general does anyway, but capturing those changes, shifts in atmosphere and so on have always had me in awe. However when browsing the latest news within popular photography early this week I was stunned by an image that NASA had captured of hurricane Isaac as it lurked over the USA. I've been in a hurricane before, but it never felt as organised or precise as this image shows. This shows a smooth beautiful cloud formation. When below  it's likely wreaking havoc and destroying lives. It's difficult to match the two together and contemplate them as the same thing. Basking in the glory of finally getting recognised for your hard efforts and photographic skill is pretty awesome and at the start of this week I took the opportunity to enjoy *Fuzzypiggy's after he got published in a UK Photography Magazine. It's really nice when something like that happens and the knowledge that across the country - and because of deviantART and other networks - across the world, people are looking at your work. And if you're me, smiling! I once stumbled across *lauren-rabbit's work in Black and White Photography Magazine and was truly proud that somebody I had found here on deviantART was here in my mag! The New Sta.sh Comments

For some reason the last 3 deviations I posted do not disappear from Stash after posting to my gallery like they did before .

I tried deleting it from Stash but it was also deleted from the gallery .

Can anyone help ?

Here is my review this way to browser Gives new starting artist and not wellknown wamizing artist to be more exposure to the newcomers of deviantart giving them recognition to them. When I first used it  I was amazed on how simple it was to use this to browser commissions and I havetosay it was very simple to use . I haven't seenany problems with it unless you will put the popular artist on the list first since that wouldn't give people like me a chance to prove myself to be more known to more people worry. I  think this is a good thing to expand upon deviant art and hope this comes out soon. Please feel free to check my deviant art page check out my stuff and/or make a commission ,with that I think is a good end to my thoughts on this .
