New York City-based artist Alex Myung (~alexmyung) has started a Kickstarter project to raise $20,000 to create Arrival, an animated short film with a focus on the theme of coming out. Equalitopia sits down with Alex to discuss the project.

Currently, the project has raised almost $4,000 from 74 different backers, averaging out to about $52 per backer. Keep in mind that Kickstarter projects are “all or nothing,” meaning that if the project doesn’t reach its funding goal by Wednesday, February 20th, no funds will be transferred to the project.

Equalitopia: Could you tell us briefly about the storyline of Arrival?

Alex: Arrival is about a young boy growing up in the countryside with his mother, who moves to the city to pursue his dreams. Along the way he falls in love with another boy, but he struggles to connect with people as he contemplates coming out to his mother.

................ Okay ................

I thought I would point out,

That this journal received 26 Comments, Where as the "New Pope: Gay Marraige.... " received 1,127 Comments. just saying

Anger does fuel discussion, but it's not the sort of discussion that's really healthy. And anger-fueled discussions doesn't stir good emotions/feelings. (again, it's not that I'm saying it's no good at all) But, a balance? would be better... yeah?
In all honesty, I'm just really really scared. That all this negativity, is just going to give the Trevor project a lot more phonecalls than they should be rightfully receiving. (Uuuuh, get my drift?). Communities like these should be boosting the morale. I mean, we hear enough feces on other forms of media. Which is why we need more good stuff to overcome the bad. That's the whole point right. To be heard, to be treated equality. For Justice, for all. and really really really, to give hope when it feels like all hope is lost.

............. uh yeah.

And I know my comments are all like, months late (since date of journal posted)... OTL... but at least saying something gives that slightest small probability that someone might read it. better than not posting at all. aye?
